Bobbie passed away peacefully in her sleep, leaving behind a lifetime of love, generosity, and putting others first that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born on March 21, 1965, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Bobbie was the daughter of Edith Horvat and the late Anthony Horvat. From a young age, she was known for her caring heart and her willingness to help anyone who needed support—traits that became the foundation of the life she lived.
Bobbie was a devoted wife to Darren Niwa and a loving mother to her three sons, who were her pride and joy: AJ (Chelsea), Dylan, and Spencer (Hope) Niwa. Though words cannot fully express their loss, they carry forward her kindness, resilience, and the endless love she poured into them.
Her greatest joy was being a grandmother. She treasured every moment spent with her granddaughters—Logan, Addison, Emerson, and Rulene—and adored them completely and unconditionally.
Bobbie is also lovingly survived by her mother, Edith Horvat; her brother Tony (Belinda); and their children Sam and Amelia, who held a special place in her heart.
One of Bobbie’s greatest joys was helping others celebrate life’s special moments, decorating weddings and creating memorable experiences for friends and family. Her home, her horses, and her animals brought her immense joy and were a true reflection of her nurturing and passionate nature.
A funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 200 Veterans Blvd, Spruce Grove, AB T7X 3A5, on January 8th at 11:00am. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, a cause that was close to Bobbie’s heart.
Bobbie was deeply loved, and her memory will live on in the stories shared, the values she passed on, and the love she leaves behind. May she rest peacefully.
