Russ will be remembered for his love of fishing and golfing although his true passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He always had a pocket full of change and would often pull out a handful offering it to them. He also could often be found watching hockey on T.V. If there was a game on, he was watching it. He was a great provider and protector to all he loved and cherished. He reminded his girls in his last days that “Harringtons work hard” and proved that to be true as he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the same company, first in Elkford, B.C., then in Spruce Grove, for 39 years.
Russ will forever be loved and remembered by his wife and best friend of over 30 years Liz; his daughters: Patricia (Al), Debbie (Rod), Julie (Jeff), and Cindy (Trevor); his grandchildren: Becky (Jen), Theo, Alysha (Enan), Kirstin, Emylie (Jared), Saidey, Alyvia, Tori, and Beth and by his great-grandchildren: Addy, Bella, Harry, and Lana. He is also survived by sisters: Patricia, Sandra (John), Darlene (Bob), Dianne (Rod); his brothers : Bruce, Dallas (Deborah), and Michael (Morgan) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Harry & Margaret, his sister Lorraine and brother’s-in-law Richard and Don.
The family would also like to thank the Westview Health Centre, the Sturgeon Community Hospital, and the Westview Health Centre Hospice staff and volunteers.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, Memorial Donations may be made in Russ’ honor to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society or the Light Up Your Light Society in Stony Plain.
