

Elizabeth (Betty) M. Stanko passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, December 11, 2011. She was born on December 28, 1922 to Jeremiah and Margaret (Dittman) Mulhall in Stony Point, NY. She lived in Stony Point for 88 years. Betty married the love of her life, Joey, on November 26, 1942. Betty worked for Haverstraw Transit for many years as a bus driver. Her life was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty loved to write poetry, read romantic novels, and do crossword puzzles. Some of her poetry was published in the National Library of Poetry. Elizabeth is survived by her six children, Patricia (Joe) Cornish, Elizabeth (Joe) LoPresti, Julie (John) Bubenko, Jeanne Babcock, Joanne (Thomas) Zayac and Joseph Stanko Jr. She leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband, Joseph, of 69 years, who only passed away 5 days prior. She is also predeceased by her parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10am, at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, followed by burial at Fred Loescher Cemetery, Spring Valley, NY
