James Brian O'Connor

Jimmy was born in the Bronx on November 2nd 1959 to John J. and Jean (Downey) O’Connor. They moved to Rockland County shortly after his birth.

Jimmy graduated from North Rockland High School and attended Mercy College. He was a proud member of the Haverstraw Elks Club and the Rotella Golf League. He retired from his position as Chief Operator at the Town of Stony Point Sewer Plant in 2020.

Jimmy’s passions in life included the New York Giants, the San Francisco Giants and the music of Bruce Springsteen.

Jimmy was an avid golfer with a great love of the game. He played as often as he could, right up until a few weeks before his death.

One of Jimmy’s proudest accomplishments was being involved with the Stony Point Little League organization for over 25 years where he played under the direction of his dad John and then coached and managed the Stony Point Lions himself. He loved all of his players and remembered them fondly.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia (Hylas) O’Connor, his two children daughter Kathleen and son Evan, mother Jean O’Connor and is predeceased by his father John J. O’Connor. His siblings include sisters Patricia McAlpin of Stony Point, Maureen (Stuart) Roberts of Suffern and his brother Kevin (Kathy) O’Connor of Cornwall, NY. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Jane Hylas and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Jimmy was a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. His loss will be felt by his many cousins with whom he was very close, his extended family and all his friends.

Family will receive guest on Sunday, June 27th from 2-6pm at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home; 73 N. Liberty Dr. Stony Point NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 28th at 10 at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, NY.
