Willie Collins of Garnerville, NY, 67 years old, passed away surrounded by his loving family December 13, 2021. He was born on March 10, 1954 to Lilly and Paul Collins Sr. Willie grew up and went to school in Astoria, NY, then moved to California, where he met the love of his life, Susan Greenfield, in 1985. They returned to NY to raise their family in Garnerville. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers, Local 137. He was very proud of the signs he hung in Times Square and his involvement in the construction of the new Yankee stadium. He took his skills in the construction field into his everyday life in renovating his home, and the homes of his loved ones as well. During retirement, he had even more time to enjoy gardening, cooking, listening to music, and golfing. He was an avid Eric Clapton, Beatles, and Yankee fan but his greatest joys came from his family.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan, their sons Eric (Veronica), Ryan (Heather), his daughter Margaret and his grandchildren Marcus and Mirari. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Eileen), their daughter Caroline, sister Deborah (Bill), their daughter Debra Ann, sister Rose Ann, brother-in-law Jim (Brenda), their children Emily, John, Jessica, Rose, and Cole, brother-in-law Ed (Rhea), and their children Abby and Jesse. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Thursday, December 16 from 10am -12:30pm, followed by a memorial service at Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
