In the early morning hours of February 3, 2026, under the cover of a full moon, while the dew was still on the grass and the sun had not yet begun to peek through to wake the nearby cardinals, Barbara Ann (Crowley) McKinnon slipped peacefully from this earth to be with her Lord and begin her next journey.
Barbara was born on July 31, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, the oldest child of Charles H. and Elsie E. (McGinnis) Crowley. She was raised in Boston and was a 1953 graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls. Barbara later lived in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and Centerville, Ohio.
She worked in the printing industry for most of her life. After retiring to Ohio, she volunteered at the Cox Arboretum and Gift Shop.
Barbara was an avid Boston sports fan and once sat in Ted Williams’ seat in right field at Fenway Park. She loved gardening and was an exceptional cook and baker, often modifying recipes to make them even better. Cooking for her family was one of her greatest joys; trying new recipes and gathering loved ones for weekend dinners made her home a special place. She also had a soft heart for stray cats, too often filling her house with four-legged fur babies.
Barbara is survived by her son, Joseph F. (Dianne Brunelle) McKinnon, Jr., of Centerville, Ohio; daughters, Diane Elizabeth McKinnon of Clayton, North Carolina, and Barbara Ann Maurice of Stuart, Florida; four grandsons, R. Joseph (Jessica Queen) Bousquet of Clayton, North Carolina, Joseph R. McKinnon of Ashfield, Massachusetts, Robert E. Maurice, Jr., of Washington, D.C., and Kevin M. (Leslie Hipp) McKinnon of Kettering, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren, Keb and Nathan Bousquet of North Carolina and Ida Fay and Oona May McKinnon of Massachusetts. She is also survived by two brothers, Frank Crowley of Melrose, Massachusetts, and Bob Crowley of Falmouth, Massachusetts, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her siblings, Charles H. Crowley, John C. Crowley, and Mary Ellen McCauley.
At Barbara’s request, there will be no services. She is in the care of Aycock Funeral Home in Stuart, Florida.
Barbara resided at L&C Care ALF in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Her family would like to thank the staff for their compassion and dedication to her care; they truly became part of her extended family.
