On October 22, 2023, while surrounded by her loving family, Cheryl Ann Tango, nee Horgan (70) passed at her home in Palm City, Florida after a heroic battle with COPD. Cheryl, formally of Cape Coral, Florida, where she retired from the Lee County School Board after more than 30 years of dedicated service, was born on January 3, 1953, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Cheryl was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 50 years, Paul Tango. Shortly after their marriage, Cheryl and Paul had two sons, Robert and Christopher. Cheryl would dedicate the rest of her life to loving and supporting her husband and children. In 2002, her son Chris married, and Cheryl welcomed her new daughter in law, Sarah, to the family. In 2004, 2006, and again in 2009, Cheryl was blessed by becoming a grandmother to Brenna, Abigail, and Jack. Being a grandmother was the greatest joy of her life. Cheryl cherished every moment with Brenna, Abigail, and Jack. She took great pride in their accomplishments and loved nothing more than watching them grow and mature.
Cheryl was a loving sister, aunt, and friend. She was the eldest of seven sisters (Kathy, Janice, Elaine, Jane, Dorothy, and Ellen). Cheryl loved her sisters deeply and was the matriarch of her family. Cheryl also loved her nieces, nephews, and friends with all of her heart.
Cheryl was a sweet, selfless, kind-hearted person that loved her family more than anything in the world. She always went out of her way to ensure her loved ones were happy. Cheryl was the pillar of her family, the person everything revolved around, and a beacon of light that attracted everyone to her. She loved organizing and hosting family gatherings; spoiling her children and grandchildren; watching her favorite soap opera, General Hospital; and listening to Elvis’s music. However, no matter what she was doing, Cheryl was the happiest when she was surrounded by family.
Cheryl will be forever missed and gave a piece of herself to everyone she loved. Although her passing leaves a gaping hole in our hearts, Cheryl would want everyone she loved so dearly to take solace that even though she is no longer here physically, she will continue to live on through the piece of herself that she gave you.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, John Horgan; her mother, Dorothy Horgan, nee Partridge; and her brother, John Horgan, Jr.
A Celebration of Life for Cheryl will be held on Sunday, November 12th starting at 1PM at the Whispering Sound Clubhouse located at 3645 SW Whispering Sound Drive, Palm City, FL 34990.
