Born in Harlson, Georgia, he resided in Stuart for the past 38 years coming from Vero Beach, FL.
Before retiring, George was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 30 years in Stuart, FL.
He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was a member of VFW and Moose Lodge in Stuart, FL
George is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Blanche; sons Richard (Barbara) Washington of Port St. Lucie, FL, William Washington of Stuart, FL, Steven Washington (Charlotte) of Stuart, FL: daughter Debbie Sneider (Robert) of Port St. Lucie, FL; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Gathering of Friends is scheduled from 12:00 – 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Aycock Funeral Home in Stuart, FL. A service will follow at 1:00 PM.
