With profound sadness and enduring love, we remember Donna Rose Tufaro (Quigg), who passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 78, in her home in Hobe Sound, Florida.
Born on January 9, 1948, in the Bronx, New York, Donna was the beloved daughter of William and Rose Quigg (Metscher). From the very beginning, she brought joy, laughter, and wisdom into the world—gifts she shared generously over the years with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Donna graduated from St. Helena’s High School in 1966. After high school, she began her professional career at American Surgical and within the commercial real estate industry in New York City. She went on to work at Universal Voltronics in Mount Kisco, before establishing a remarkable over forty-year career in Accounting and Finance at Wentworth Laboratories in Brookfield, Connecticut. Donna was deeply respected for her work ethic, intelligence, and unwavering reliability.
In 1966, Donna met the love of her life, Charles “Charlie” Tufaro of Throggs Neck, New York. The two married in 1971 and, in 1973, moved to Carmel, New York, where they built fulfilling careers and raised a family rooted in love, laughter, and togetherness.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, William Quigg and Rose Quigg (Metscher). She is survived by her devoted husband, Charlie; her sons, Dan and Greg; her daughter-in-law, Trish; and her cherished granddaughters, Charlotte (15) and Emma (13)—who were the absolute joy of her life. Donna adored spending time with her granddaughters and took immense pride in being present for every moment she could share with them.
She is also survived by her loving sister, Marvie Russell, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her deeply and will miss her beyond words.
For more than twenty years, Donna and Charlie spent much of their time in Hobe Sound, Florida, where they resided in the Eaglewood golf community. Donna formed many meaningful friendships there and embraced the lifestyle fully—enjoying golf, bocce, swimming, beach days, and lively gatherings filled with laughter and connection.
Throughout her life, Donna was a shining light to so many. She loved being surrounded by family and friends and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Many will fondly remember her Memorial Day celebrations, pool parties at the family home on Deer Hill Road, and late-night card games, where great food, endless laughter, and unforgettable memories were shared.
Donna was a constant and unwavering presence in her children’s lives, never missing a single sporting event. In recent years, she could often be found cheering at her granddaughters’ school events, softball games, basketball games, and swimming meets—moments she cherished with all her heart.
The void left by Donna’s passing is immeasurable. Her warmth, strength, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be loved forever and missed beyond measure.
