

Mr. Mead was born in Franklin, IN, and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1944.
In February 1944, Mr. Mead joined the Navy and was stationed at the Naval Air Station of New Orleans, LA, until he was honorably discharged in August of 1946.
Mr. Mead married Janice Mae Woodward on July 28, 1946.
He graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1949. From 1949 to 1952 he worked as a mortician at Fairfield Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale, and at Tracy Funeral Home in Miami.
In 1952 Mr. Mead began a long career in pharmaceutical sales with Ayerst Labs in Indiana and Kentucky. He ended his career with Hoffman La Roche Labs in Miami, and Treasure Coast, FL where he was a hospital representative and field trainer until he retired.
While in Miami he began boat racing, and at one time was 2nd nationwide in Unlimited Outboards with a boat he had built.
Mr. Mead was predeceased by his wife Jan, in May of 2001. He will be laid to rest beside her in Crestview Cemetery at a later date.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Ira Emerson Mead, and mother, Zella Marie Baideck, and brothers Marshall, Gene, and Johnny.
He is survived by his daughters Nanci and Becki (Mike), his granddaughters Jessi and Cassidy.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2014, with a memorial service starting at 3 PM, at Aycock Funeral Home, Young & Prill Chapel.
