
He married Frances Ledingham Britton of Columbia, South Carolina. Known to all as Jim and survived by his son James Thomas Britton, Jr., and five grandchildren, James T. Britton, III of Walterboro, SC, Kathy Larrazabal of Gastonia, NC, and Heather Ciccone of Irmo, SC, Christopher Britton of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Kevin Britton of Indiantown, FL. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Lucas and Benjamin Larrazabal, Alyssa and Walker Ciccone, and Nail, Kaylee and Nikolas Britton.
Jim spent his younger life in Charleston and Folly Beach, SC. After graduating from Charleston High School in 1941 he then attended Clemson College. He was soon drafted into the Army and sent to Europe during WWII. After the war he returned home with a Purple Heart and met Frances Ledingham. They were married in Columbia at the Bull Street Baptist Church in August 1945. Jim started working for Delta Airlines and retired in the 1970s, then moving to Summerville, NE
James will be interned in Columbia, SC at Elmwood Cemetery alongside Frances, his wife of 69 years. The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans.
