Born in Miami, Florida, Mr. Brotherton had lived in Palm City since 1973. He was the owner of James Brotherton Architects in Stuart for forty years.
Mr. Brotherton was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jill A. Brotherton of Palm City, FL; daughter, Kim Patterson and her husband, Brian of Jensen Beach, FL; son, Jay Brotherton and his wife, Krysti of Palm City, FL; sister, Sue Tinker of Jensen Beach, FL; mother, Janet Brotherton of Stuart, FL; five grandchildren, Randy, Jessie, Brandon, Taylor and Brooke; and three nephews, Brian Tinker, Michael Young, and Christopher Heiteld.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013, at 4:00 PM at Indian Riverside Park in Jensen Beach.
