James David Levan, 71, passed away on August 23, 2024 in Hobe Sound, Florida. His battle with cancer shined a light directly onto his positive energy, loving spirit and true selfishlessness. Jim was realistic and grounded in facts, yet optimistic to the end. Jim will continue to live on in the memories of all of those who have known him, memories that are guaranteed to bring back a sense of warmth, a smile and a laugh.
Jim had the best laugh. A contagious belly laugh. His smile and energy changed the dynamic in a room. He welcomed everyone in and gave back in dividends. He was a one-of-a-kind human, one that spread joy with ease.
Jim was a helper. He cared deeply about fellow humans and wanted to do right by others. This translated into his 39 year career as a Pharmacist. His career was also symbolic of this dedication, having worked at the West Reading Drug Store from the age of 15 to 62. To say he was a good man would be an understatement; he was an extraordinary man who acted like an ordinary one.
Life was fun for Jim and he made it more fun for all of those around him. He loved to travel with his family, friends, and most especially his wife, Eileen. He was a proud Pennsylvanian but enjoyed his life of retirement in sunny and warm Florida. He loved the water and being on a boat. He loved riding his bike and racket sports, first racquetball and more recently pickleball. He loved chatting on the phone with friends, family and his grandkids. His epic t-shirt collection is a showcase of his life experiences, a life which was cut short too soon.
Jim loved so fully and was loved by so many. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Eileen Levan; his daughters Marnie Sadow and Kelsey Donoghue who he loved and supported endlessly; his son in-laws Joseph Sadow and Michael Donoghue who he treated like his own sons; his grandchildren Maya Sadow, Ruby Sadow, Parker Donoghue, and Winnie Donoghue, who brought him immense joy and showcased his youthful energy; his beloved siblings Barbara Levan and John Levan.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations made in Jim’s memory to Anderson Family Cancer Institute at Jupiter Medical Center.
