Born in Woodbury, New Jersey, Mr. Young had previously lived in Pennsylvania and Fort Lauderdale, Florida before moving to Martin County in 1971.
He was a boat captain for 50 years and had worked throughout Florida. Mr. Young was a member of the IGFA and loved fishing.
He is lovingly survived by his son, James R. Young, Jr. of Palm City, Florida; daughter, Jean Y. Clare (James) of Decatur, Michigan; son, John P. Young of Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Young, Kevin Young, James Young III, and Morgan K. Young, and sister, Dorothy Y. Lees of Wellsville, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Young was predeceased by his wife, Kathlin.
