Janet was born in Louisville, Kentucky, July 7, 1942. She was a longtime resident of Cincinnati, Ohio before moving to Florida. She devoted her life to teaching after receiving her degree from the University of Cincinnati. Before retiring in 2004, she taught for 35 years finishing her career as a special education teacher at the high school level.
Janet had many interests which included reading and sewing, often making clothes and home décor for family and friends. Above all, she loved spending time with family, especially watching her grandchildren at sporting and music events. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Alan; her children David (Pam) and Deb (Scott); her grandchildren Adam (Kristen), Allie (Tom), Natalie (Andrew), Rachel, Courtney (James), Theresa (Joe), Brad, Katherine, and Michael; her great-grandchildren Emmaline, Olivia, Rosemary, and James; her brother Robert (Debora); and many friends who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, the wonderful organization that cared for her this last year. Donations may be made at treasurehealth.org by selecting the amount and dedicating the tribute gift in memory of Janet Arend.
