Jean was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 20, 1924 to Harold & Edna (Harbison) VanNattan and married the love of her life, Edward J. Gallagher in 1942.
The consummate homemaker, Jean’s life revolved around her family. In the early 80’s she and her husband retired to Stuart and enjoyed a quiet but, active life that included volunteer work for the Martin County Extension Office and Martin Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her eldest son, Edward R. Gallagher of Delray Beach, FL, sister, Rosemary Hofer of Brielle, NJ, brother, Robert VanNattan of Spring Hill, FL, six grandchildren from her son, Donald S. Gallagher, as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and their children.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband who died in 2002 in Stuart, FL just shy of their 60th Anniversary, her son, Donald S. Gallagher in 2009 in Stuart, FL, and her brother, Harold VanNattan in 2011 in Melbourne, FL .
A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held from 2 to 4pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 with a service at 3pm at the Aycock Funeral Home , 505 S. Federal Hwy, Stuart, Florida. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery where Jean will be laid to rest with her husband, Edward J. Gallagher.
