Jean was born Jean Elizabeth Escott in Miami to Roger and Olivia Escott. She attended Miami Edison High School, where she and her fellow Red Raider Cadets led the band and football team onto fields of battle including the Orange Bowl.
Jean attended FSU prior to marrying Calvert Montgomery in 1953, and moved to Stuart in 1958 after his stint at Eglin Air Force Base. Thereafter, she was a tireless and devoted homemaker and wife to Cal, and mother to four children, Brent (Theresa) of Vero Beach, Scott (Kim) of Stuart, Craig (Michelle) of Tampa, and Ann (David) of Stuart, and to eight grandchildren. Also, she is survived by her sister Mary Hodapp of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She and Cal remained in Stuart, in their first and only home, throughout her life.
A private funeral is planned. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to donate to the Alzheimer's Association.
