Born in Meriden, CT, John had previously lived in Wallingford, CT, and Delray Beach, Florida prior to moving to Stuart ten years ago.
He was a purchaser in the electrical manufacturing business, and had worked for Davis Electric for 22 years in Wallingford, CT.
John was of Catholic faith. He was an avid golfer and was a member of The Florida Club in Stuart, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Theresa “Terry” Porto of Stuart, Florida; son, John “Jay” A. Porto and his wife, Christina of Stuart, Florida; son, Jeffrey “Jeff” Porto and his wife, Denise from Lawrenceville, Georgia, and his sister, Gail Porto Totz, and her husband, Henry of Branford, CT.
Private inurnment will be held at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL.
