On December 19, 2014 a bittersweet farewell was given to Michael L. Kenny, one of the kindest, most positive, simplest men to have lived. Bittersweet because while it was wonderful to finally see him at peace his absence will leave a gaping hole in the hearts of all who loved and knew him. His life was so much larger and important than any words on a page can truly convey. Michael was born on June 29, 1948 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Genevieve A. Kenny and Leo F. Kenny. Michael was the eldest of seven children he is survived by his sisters Dianne Kenny, Maureen Kenny, and Kathleen O’Sullivan and brothers Dennis Kenny, Kevin Kenny, and Brian Kenny. The importance of a strong family bond is a legacy he leaves behind for his wife Lucille Kenny, and their two daughters Allyson Franze and Christina Kenny. Michael and Lucille lovingly sparred with each other for 43 years; he loved her dearly and would do all in his power to make her happy. They were each other’s rock and refuge in many difficult times including the loss of their son Joseph Kenny at 18 years old. Michael was a devoted father to Joseph, Allyson, and Christina. He was their biggest fan in the form of soccer coach or spectator during their games or chorus concerts. A child couldn’t ask for a better cheerleader. Michael had a passion and curiosity for so many things including history, cooking, movies, and trivia. However his biggest passion of all besides family was music. The love for music was passed down to him from his mother Genevieve, a keen, skilled fiddle player. This passion for music was shared with his children as well as his nieces and nephews, Christian Klaszky, Macgregor Kenny, Derek Haas, Brittany Drossos, Kellie Kenny, Genevieve O’Sullivan, Connor O’Sullivan, Devlin O’Sullivan, Zachary Kenny, Grace Kenny, Jack Kenny, Reggie Kenny, Nicholas Dalia, and Daniel Dalia. There are so many other stories and memories that can be told but there is simply not enough room here for the unabridged story of Michael’s life. There are so many people’s lives he touched and whose lives touched him. It is the stories and memories of those he encountered that will make him live on forever. Rest in peace to a true super hero who finally flew away when we told him it was okay to go. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 11 AM to 3 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2015 with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1:30 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, Young and Prill Chapel in Stuart.
