Michael Kevin Reynolds, 74, who resided in Stuart, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born on March 17, 1951, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Mike was the oldest of six children born to Juliette Rocca and Francis George Reynolds.
A proud graduate of Boston College, Mike’s sharp mind and early curiosity led him to become a true trailblazer in the world of technology—working on voice recognition software long before the era of artificial intelligence. As a software developer, Mike’s career was marked by innovation, problem-solving, and a passion for pushing boundaries.
It was in Boston, at Faneuil Hall, that he met Jane—his fellow Lynn native, best friend, motorcycle riding partner, and wife of nearly 42 years. Together, they raised two daughters, Mollie Reynolds Cooke and Abby Leigh Hickox, who were the light of his life.
If you didn’t know where Mike was, he was probably in the garage either under an old MG, sanding the leg of a handmade chair, or fine-tuning something no one else could quite fix (or taking a part something he already fixed just to put it back together again).
He had a lifelong love of flying, riding his Harley with Jane and friends in search of the perfect breakfast spot, and enjoying life on the coast of Stuart.
Mike’s greatest joys were simple: a glass of red wine, a hand-built rocking chair, and music playing at a waterfront spot. He had a sharp and dry sense of humor, a laugh you could pick out of a crowd, and a deep pride in his two “blondies,” his grandchildren Briland and Charlotte.
Throughout the years, Mike was rarely without a dog by his side. Brownie, Cody, Tilly, Barkley, and Bailey were more than just pets—they were his loyal shadows, his shop dogs in his garage, and his favorite coworkers long before working from home was trendy. They kept him company during late nights of coding and quiet evenings in the garage.
During the six years he and Jane lived in Greenville, South Carolina, Mike loved nothing more than a spontaneous drive through the mountains, exploring new wineries and breweries, and soaking in the beauty of the Carolinas.
He is survived by his wife Jane; daughters Mollie Reynolds Cooke and Abby Reynolds Hickox; sons-in-law Brendan Wilcox Cooke and Geoffrey Alan Hickox; and his adored grandchildren Briland and Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, whose care and compassion helped bring comfort and peace during Mike’s final days. www.treasurehealth.org
