I know that today is Pat's  Birthday.  I take solace in the fact that he is surrounded by loved ones.  Pat is the best of us.

I have had the pleasure to work with Pat since 1997.  He was a kind and generous person and touched the lives of so many people.  Pat was not only my boss and mentor but he was also a friend not only to me but also to my family.  

Pat always looked out for his employees and their families.  When gas prices rose above $4, he gave us extra money to offset the price of gas.  During that time, Pat decided to go to a four-day work week so we could save money since he didn't want us to drive to and from work five days a week.  

I have so many memories of Pat but my favorite one was that one day when Alison was in our office she was running down the hallway dropping a trail of sugar packets and Pat was running behind her picking them up - the whole time they were laughing and having a great time!

May God bless you and your family during this difficult time.  Take comfort in knowing that Pat will be your "special guardian angel" and will watch over you forever.  

More than 30 years ago my sister Corinne called Ena and me to tell us she had a new boyfriend she wanted us to meet.  There was a certain undercurrent of excitement in her voice that made us realize something special was going on.  Well, we met them at a restaurant for dinner and were immediately sold on Pat.  After we left, we turned to each other, gave each other a thumbs up and said, almost simultaneously He's the one!  Even at this first meeting we could see that there was a special bond between them.

    Well, before you know it they were getting married and a few short years later Alison was born.  Pat turned out to be everything we imagined he would be.  A devoted husband to Corinne and father to Alison.  In the more than 30 years we knew him we grew to admire him and love him.  I guess we would describe him as generous, humble, caring, considerate and protective.  These are outstanding qualities for anyone and ones that he lived by on a daily basis.

    Pat was always kind and considerate to us.  Ena especially appreciated his kindness to her when she needed help. 

    Corinne and Alison, we will always remember what a wonderful life you all had together and what a beautiful family you always were.  We love you so much and we will miss Pat forever.

Years ago, after we spoke about my working with disabled skiers and athletes, you sent me a generous check to purchase adapted ski equipment for my non-profit, Adaptive Athletic Specialists.  A year later, another check arrived from you.  Your kindness, generosity and compassion for others will always be remembered as disabled skiers benefit from your adaptive ski equipment for many years to come.  Thank you.

David and I will miss Pat so much. We enjoyed all of our family gatherings so much and looked forward to them every year.  Pat was just one of those people that was always a joy to spend time with. Pat is my little brother, who as we grew up, decided he was my big brother.  As we became older teenagers and Pat would return home for college breaks, he and Jerry would head out to local bars.  When they weren't home within a few hours, our Mother would be sending me out to locate and bring them home.   When I would moan, groan and point out I was the girl she would always say...Pat is my brilliant son, Jerry my very intelligent son, but you are the one with common sense, so go get them.
Well things changed rather quickly after Pat's college graduation
and suddenly Pat was everyone's big brother and protector.  Thank God he met Corinne and they had Alison.   Corinne and Alison are Pat's world; he is a loving, devoted, protective husband and the minute he met Alison his world was complete.   Anyone who knows Pat, knows his heart is huge and his love, generosity and need to protect reach out to so many, especially family, friends and his extended work family.   Pat is generous to a fault, family and friends his world, but no one comes close to Corinne and Alison.
Pat, I am so angry you physically left us, but thankful your pain is over.  Pat, you will forever remain in my heart and in the hearts of so many.  I love you and miss you little brother.

Pat, my cousin and friend, I will always miss your smile, sense of humor and great laugh.  You were kind, generous, sincere and good-natured.  I have nothing but the fondest of memories when I think of you.  Pat, you were truly a gentleman.  I love you and will miss you.

Pat was my Uncle even though he didn't really like the word Uncle when I called him that. I guess he didn't feel like he needed a title. He was a very humble and generous man. Pat has truly left a legacy for his family to continue to honor. 
Pat and Alison were conected at the hip. He truly loved his family and seeing the joy in his eyes when he looked at Alison and my Aunt Corinne was very apparent. I honor him and am truly grateful for all that he has done for the people that have been in his path through his life. Pat definately lived the dash in his life. He was a true joy to be around and he will be dearly missed. I love you Cornne and Alison.

My brother in law, the love of my sister's life, the father my niece was so deserving of.

I remember when I first met Corinne's boyfriend Pat.   I thought, wow she found a good one!

Well that was an understatement.

Through the 30 years I've known Pat I have witnessed a selfless and giving spirit I had never known and I am sure will never know again.

When my Mom (Corinne's Mom) was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I was struggling to care for her, Pat suggested that Mom live with them.  Pat and Corinne took on the herculean role of caregivers for mom until she needed full time nursing care.   I don't think I ever told Pat how grateful I was.  But I will never forget his selflessness and his love for my mom and our family.

Mom loved Pat Oh, he walked on water in her eyes.   And they were two of kind.  Pat and mom were two of the most loyal people I've ever known, but boy if you crossed them or their family, they didn't forget!  I don't know who was worse the Sicilian or the Irishman!

Pat helped my daughter when she was a young struggling single mom.   It turned her life around.

For me, Pat was my hero, my rock, my father figure.
He was there for me through all my ups and downs.  He has had such a significant and positive impact on my life and I am forever grateful to him for all he has done.

I love you Pat.. and thank you.

It was always a day full of love & laughter when all of the cousins could get together. I fondly remember the conversations that I had with Pat. Pat was so genuine in his conversations & always knew what was going on in everyone's lives and asked questions that made us all feel loved & supported. I remember specifically dancing with Pat & Alison at Caitlin's wedding & we had a blast showing off dance moves. I want Allison to know that all of her cousins love her very much and I am sending love & prayers to Corinne, Alison, Ann Marie, Jerry & Barbara. It is still hard to believe that Pat is gone. Luckily I have nothing but fond memories of him, whether it was at a family barbecue, a wedding or Jimmy's golf outing. Pat was such a kind, generous and easy going man and it was obvious how important family was to him. He will truly be missed. My heart goes out to all of the Deegan's. Pat will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Pat was a great man who touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. It was always a good time, full of great memories, during the times we spent together as a family. I send my deepest condolences to the Deegan family. Pat will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Pat was a remarkable husband, father,brother, cousin, and friend. My fondest memory of Pat is spending time with him at our annual cousins barbeque out on Long Island. Pat was kind, caring, generous, thoughtful, and had a wonderful sense of humor. After my first year of college, Pat sent me a note that I will never forget. It said "enjoy your summer, do something fun, my treat." I will always remember how much that made me smile. 
Our family is blessed to be so close, and to have had Pat in our lives. He will be missed dearly, remembered fondly, and loved always. 
Corinne, Alison, Ann Marie, Jerry, & Barbara-You are all in thoughts and prayers. Side by side or miles apart, you will always be so close in our hearts. We love you all so very much.

In remembrance of the light of generosity and humor Pat brought into the lives of all he touched!

We were extremely saddened to hear of Pat's untimely passing.  Both Tim and I have wonderful memories of our college days at UB, making lifelong friends with  the guys from the "New Dorm", and the girls from Cooper 4, and others. We continued having HOBBINS parties for many years!  Pat will be remembered as such a kind, easygoing guy...one of the nicest ever!   We miss you, Pat!

Dear Pat, My great friend for almost 35 years, And business partner of sorts for 20.  I have missed you sorely since your move to Florida. Oh how I wanted to see you again.  Alas it's not to be. 
Your partnering with me in 1997 turned my consulting thing from a group of part-time jobs into a genuine business. Your belief in me when I wasn't so sure gave me the push I needed. And you financial support. I and my family have so much to thank you for. Because of you we have enjoyed success we didn't think was possible. 
My wife, Judy, said "Pat was a real Peach. " Indeed you were and so much more. You were a man of tremendous integrity. Integrity in the sense that you were a man of your word and that there was only one you - the same great character in all situations. When you made a commitment - you made sure that you did all you said you would do and usually more. You Planned well, but more than that, you executed the plans thoroughly.  What a great example for all who ever worked with you.
And you had that smile and laugh that lit up the room.  I loved stopping by your  office ( you know - the little one , because you put me in the big one! ) to share some funny self deprecating story. I know you were often frustrated by the interruption, but you never failed to laugh and smile. And then bring to story home to Alison - so she could laugh at my foibles too.  I'm sure Corinne just nodded agreement that it was the same character that had driven her crazy when we all worked together. 
I want to petition Mirram-Webster to add your picture in their definition of MENSCH.  We were all blessed to be with you during your way too short time here. God speed my Friend.

with him about Chicago and different vacation spots, and
being together at the annual cousins' barbecue on Long
Island.  Kathryn said she remembers Pat taking Alison
to buy funny toys for her like a rubber chicken that laid
an egg!   Patrick said that he remembers how Pat
always found toys for him to play with at the cousins'
barbecue.  Pat always found the right words each year
in a letter about our pain in losing Jimmy.  His understanding

On July 18, 2017 a good man departed our shores. Today, I pay respect to a man who has impacted my life immensely and to whom I will be forever grateful. I owe Pat and his family a debt of gratitude. He was my Boss and  Mentor. I will strive to emulate him. His most pronounced characteristic was GENEROSITY.  Pat was extremely charitable. A synonym for the word GENEROUS is Patrick Joseph Deegan. 

Pat founded UB Pensions and he placed emphasis on a tension free work environment. Pat was a real family man. As a result, at his company there is an air of togetherness.

He was well loved and respected. The over 50 emails, that I have personally received from clients, expressing their sorrow and prayers prove that he touched many lives and that he will be greatly missed by a wide spectrum of people. 

My Boss had a good sense of identifying and nurturing ability, proficiency, aptitude, skill and capability. As a result, Pat has left colleagues who will sustain and grow the business that he successfully established and managed. He was a man of standards and a stickler for accuracy. It is the consensus of my co-workers that we will not drop the baton, but will continue to be efficient and professional.

Corrine and Alison, keep heart.  May Pat's kindness and the love he extended to others enfold you. To the other family members, know that Pat has done his bit and he made his mark in this world. Now, he is your guiding Angel.

Pat was my dear cousin and I remember him well as a thoughtful and caring man who was devoted to his family. I am reaching into the distant past for an anecdote about Pat that always reminded me of his essence.  It was the 1970s and I was at an auction with family including Pat's Mother, Auntie Ann.  Auntie Ann had her eyes set on just one item - a pair of massive glass vases - which she successfully bid on.  They were for the bouquet of flowers that Pat brought her every week.  Pat's father died when he was just 11 years old and this was his way of trying to fill that emptiness for his Mother.  That was Pat and I feel deeply sorry for Corinne and Alison who are losing their guiding light.  My heart also goes out to Ann Marie, Jerry and Barbara.  I will always remember him fondly and keep him in my heart.

I first met Pat when I came to work for him at UB Pensions in 2003.  It was during this time, that I had the opportunity to get to know what a unique individual Pat was.  He possessed all the traits of a great leader with integrity.  Pat was intelligent, kind and very generous, but above all, he was very fair, humble and honest.  He ran an honorable company with high standards and treated his employees in a dignified manner.  He always looked out for our best interests.  Working for Pat felt I was working an uncle, or one of my own family members.  My sons were also very sadden to hear of Pat's passing, and send their love, and condolences.  I have nothing but gratitude, respect and great admiration for Pat.  He will be truly missed.

We enjoyed playing, drive-in movies, backyard cookouts, putting on talent shows, and just hanging out together. I have had the pleasure of working for Pat for over 19 years and he was an amazing and kind hearted  person.  He was truly the most generous person that I have ever known and he treated everybody as family.  Pat was mentor to me and made working at UB Pensions feel like an extension to my home.  He believed that family always came first and on numerous occasions, he showed that through his actions.  We will do our best to carry on his legacy at UB Pensions and continue to build the company he started.  Suji always spoke so fondly of Pat and loved how family oriented he was.  She admired the way he balanced family and work and how extremely generous he was. 

I knew Pat was a great boss, 3 weeks after I was hired.  My mother called to  tell me that my grandmother  fell and she needed help.  I, nervous at my new job,  told my mom that I couldn't leave since I just started.  Pat overheard my conversation and came over to me and said, "You go home now and take care of her, and don't come back until tomorrow."  This goes to show you what a kind heart he had.  Pat will be missed by both, Suji and I.  He has forever left an imprint on me and has made me a better person knowing him.

To the Entire Deegan Family,

I worked for Pat for over 20 years.  He always cared about his employees, including their families,and treated us more as family than employees.  He was funny and kind and gave me a chance to achieve at UBP even when I thought that I could not. Pat will be deerly missed by me and my entire family.

For as long as I have known Pat, he has always been a tough, dedicated, generous and caring person. It's all of these qualities that made him the great leader that he was. He always looked out for others and had their best interests in mind. 

May the love of those around you, help you through the days ahead.

Pat was a wonderful person, mentor, boss and friend.  In the 19 years that I worked for him, I could not have asked for someone more understanding and generous to help nurture me in my career.  We will strive to live up to Pat's standard at UB Pensions for years to come.

My entire family was saddened to hear about his passing; my daughters especially loved when they'd be invited to the office.  

Corinne and Alison, thank you for sharing him with us over these last 19 years.  I hope the good memories help get you though this trying time.

From the first time I met Pat, it was like we'd been friends forever. His smile exuded warmth and kindness - he was fun and easy to be with. And what also became evident quickly: how he cherished his family. I soon realized Pat was the father, husband, brother and friend we all want in our lives.
His love and outstanding legacy will live forever in our memories.
