Tom was the youngest of four children born to William and Margaret (Lesick) Nickey. He was employed by various manufacturing companies in the Philadelphia area as a Quality Control Engineer He and his family relocated to Florida in 2002, and founded the Inn of the Dog, a dog daycare and boarding business in Stuart, where Tom manned the front desk for several years.
Tom was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many trips to Key West, as well as fishing the local waters with his good friend, Jack O'Keeffe. Horticulture was another passion for him, and Tom enjoyed sharing his plants and gardening skills with others.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 40 years Susan (Clark); son Tim and his wife Lenia; daughter Allison; and cherished grandsons Christian and Michael. He is also survived by brothers William and Joseph (Bobbi) and sister Paula, many nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, and lifelong friends. His absence will also be felt by the many canines that he cared for daily, both his own and others.
It is Tom's wish to be buried at sea in a private ceremony. Donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 would be appreciated.
Arrangements under the direction of Forest Hills FH - Young & Prill Chapel, Stuart, FL.
