Thomas Edward Turynowicz

Thomas (Tom) Turynowicz, age 93, of Stuart, Florida, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by many. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Ursula (Wasilewska) and Boleslaw Turynowicz, and by his siblings, Helen Cuneo, Sophie Novicki, Jennie Balukewitch, Mary Bublis, Ann Tuminski, Leon Turynowicz, and Frances Regan. He is survived by his wife Alice (Cadigan) Turynowicz; his two children, Steven Turynowicz (Peggy) and Nancy Kormann (David); his grandchildren, Matthew Kormann (Danielle) and Emily Kormann Astaldi (Gherardo); his great-granddaughter Maliyah Kormann; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated from Northeastern University. He and his wife, Alice, were married for 64 years. Tom and Alice lived in Quincy, Massachusetts, where they raised their children and were active members of St. John’s Catholic Church. They later moved to the Syracuse, New York area, and eventually to Stuart, Florida, after Tom’s retirement from Kemper Insurance Company. Tom was a corporate accountant specializing in the insurance industry, and he retired from Kemper Insurance as a regional controller.

An avid sportsman, Tom devoted many years to umpiring Babe Ruth Baseball, coaching Little League Baseball, and participating in the Senior Olympics. Tom enjoyed golf and tennis in his younger years, and he loved the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. A long-time SCORE volunteer, Tom worked diligently in its Southeast Florida District, along with other SCORE colleagues, mentoring small business owners to help them achieve their goals. Tom and Alice traveled extensively during their retirement years, but he loved nothing more than spending time with family. Tom will be missed by all who knew him; we cherish the memories he left us and the lessons he taught us.

A gathering of family and friends for Thomas will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel, 6801 SE FEDERAL HWY, STUART, FL 34997. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 PM at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 12001 SE Federal Hwy, Hobe Sound, FL 33455. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at Fernhill Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, 1501 South Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL 34994.
