Ann Mims Hamilton Christian

Ann Mims (Hamilton) Christian, widow of Isaac Hill Christian III, died Friday, November 11, 2016 at Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was born March 26, 1917 in Middlebrook, a daughter of the late Ollie Wallace and Josephine Mims (Mobley) Hamilton. Mrs. Christian was a graduate of Middlebook High School and Madison College. She taught for Augusta County Public Schools and later worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia in Human Services in Richmond. Ann was a lifelong artist and enjoyed communicating her love of the natural world through her work. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Joel W. Hamilton and a niece, Betty Jo Hamilton. Survivors include her niece, Lee Ann Heizer and husband, Thomas of Middlebook; a great-niece, Sarah Heizer Smith of Staunton; a great-nephew, Andrew Heizer of Middlebook. Ann is also survived by her loving friend, Nannie R. Brown of Swoope and many devoted friends and caregivers in the Sunnyside Community. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2016 in Meredith Chapel at Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community with Chaplain Paul O’Gorek officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with The Rev. April Cranford officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 563 Bethel Green Rd., Staunton, VA 24401 or Massanutten Presbyterian Church, 50 Indian Trail Rd., Penn Laird, VA 22846.
