Christine Yvonne (Claytor) Fitzgerald

Born January 5, 1974 in Waynesboro, she was a daughter of the late Yourtha Morrison and Elizabeth Yvonne (Crookshanks) Claytor.

Christine grew up attending Wayside Baptist Church in Waynesboro, where she developed a deep sense of faith that remained with her throughout her life. She attended Stuarts Draft High School and was a member of the softball team, a cheerleader and part of the FFA. She was also a gymnast and enjoyed primitive camping with her parents. She loved cooking and ran her family’s business, Granny’s Pork Rinds & Funnel Cakes. In previous years, Christine had worked as a bartender and waitress at Dices, Waffle House, and the Staunton Moose Lodge, where she also served as bar manager. She enjoyed her work immensely, and her vibrant personality made her a favorite among patrons. Above all else, Christine treasured her children and grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she loved spoiling them every chance she had. Family meant everything to her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and the importance of strong family bonds.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brittany Michelle Fitzgerald; brothers, Michael Claytor and Paul Claytor; sister, Arlene Cleveland; and father-in-law, Thomas Fitzgerald, Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas L. Fitzgerald, Jr. of Stuarts Draft; daughter, Danielle (Fitzgerald) Smith and husband, Dillon, of Kerrs Creek, VA; sons, Shane Fitzgerald and Zach Fitzgerald of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Karmen Fitzgerald, Katherine Fitzgerald, Myles Fitzgerald, Wyatt Fitzgerald, Landry Smith, and Danielle Smith; brother, Bill Claytor of Greenville; sisters, Madeleine Snyder of Afton and Mary Magoon of Buena Vista, VA; mother-in-law, Glenda Fitzgerald of Stuarts Draft; sisters-in-law, Colleen Fitzgerald of Stuarts Draft and Annette Mosier of Greenville; best friend, Gail Lawhorne of Buena Vista, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft.
