Donald Gary Cogar

Don was born in Webster Springs, WV, a son of the late Okey and Ora Cogar.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carla Davis Cogar of Stuarts Draft whom he married October 30, 1965. He is also survived by his son Douglas Cogar and wife Melanie of Stuarts Draft; daughter Donna Cogar and partner Jodie Myers of Salem and grandson Davis Cogar and wife Shelby of Stuarts Draft.

Don was an avid motorcyclist which he enjoyed with his wife, son and grandson as well as many friends. He was able to travel on his motorcycle 47 of the 50 states.

Another love was his 1969 Dodge Super Bee, which was purchased new right after the birth of his daughter. He was able to take a ride in it last week with his son and family members watching.

Don proudly retired in May 2011 from Dominion Energy with 45 years of service. He was ecstatic when he learned that his grandson Davis was following in his footsteps as an employee at the Blue Ridge Office.

The family will be holding a private service at his home church, Rankin Creek Worship Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to Hospice of the Shenandoah.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
