Born January 7, 1942 in Augusta County, he was the son of the late Jean and Mabel (Lawhorn) Painter.
He was employed by DuPont and worked in maintenance until he retired after many years of service.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Painter; sister, Thelma Doyle.
Survivors include his children, Jay Painter of Waynesboro, Timothy W. Painter of Welch, WV and Deborah Rogers of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Mandy Painter, Nathan Rogers, Samantha Darnell, Jennifer Hurst and Blake Painter; great-grandson, Joel Pugh; siblings, Peggy L. Noe of Waynesboro and Jean Painter and wife Joan of Waynesboro.
Following his wishes, he will be cremated with no formal viewing or services.
