Kenneth Ray Fitzgerald, Jr.

Born in San Francisco, California, he was the son of the late Kenneth Ray Fitzgerald Sr. and Mary Robinson Fitzgerald.

Ken devoted the majority of his professional life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse at UVA Health University Medical Center, where he served in the operating room. His work reflected not only his skill and professionalism, but also his deep empathy and unwavering commitment to helping those in need.

Known for his warm heart and approachable nature, Ken was someone people naturally turned to. He was easy to talk to, always willing to lend a helping hand, and carried a good sense of humor that brought comfort and light to those around him.

In his free time, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures, fishing, meticulously detailing cars, and spending meaningful time with his family. These moments reflected the care and patience that defined his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Terry Marie Fitzgerald and his brother Kevin Mark Fitzgerald.

Ken is survived by his loving children, Marykate Fitzgerald Conner, Jacqueline Marie Fitzgerald, and Colin Jennings Fitzgerald; granddaughter, Emmylou Conner; cousin, Joyce and Glenn Cummings; and close friend, Stephen C. Greene. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in supporting his children in their interests and hobbies, always present with encouragement and love.

Ken will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, a devoted nurse, and a kind soul whose generosity touched many lives. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Stuarts Draft, VA.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, 7140 Irish Creek Rd. Montebello, VA with Pastor James Lundy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
