Robert Harold George

Born February 5, 1935 in Paris, TN, he was a son of the late Robert Peyton and Ruby Mae (Hart) George. On August 13, 1955 he married Betty Jean Hart. The two shared 66 years of wonderful marriage.

Harold was an active member of Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, Stuarts Draft and was very active with the churches music ministry. He was also a member of Gospel Sounds and played bass guitar. Harold started out driving trucks for his father at Paris Concrete Company. He had a lengthy military career having joined the National Guard Armory at an early age with a total of 32 years total. He served with both the Army and Navy. Harold worked at David Taylor Research Center and received numerous awards. After retirement from the government, he also worked at Industrial Fabricators, the Lighting Center, and A+ Renovation, Inc. Harold greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing and traveling the country with wife. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Dodge; two grandsons, Jason and Justin Dodge; brother, John George; and sister, Juanita George.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty (Hart) George; daughter, Ginger Higgerson and husband, Richard of Appomattox, Va; son, Dwayne George and wife, Jeanette of Fishersville; son-in-law, Tommy Dodge of Raphine; grandchildren, Brenden Fulton, Brianna Fulton, Noah George, Naomi George, Joseph Higgerson, Jacob Higgerson and Deanna Higgerson; great-grandsons, J.D. Dodge, Josias Higgerson-Kubis and Logan Higgerson; great-granddaughters, Kloe Kiggerson and Sophia Higgerson; two sisters, Becky Lowery of Jacksonville, FL and Martha George of Paris, TN; brother, Max George and wife, Lenore of Manassas, Va; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 2348 Tinkling Spring Road, Stuarts Draft.

Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Charles Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro.

Active pallbearers will be Noah George, Brenden Fulton, Patrick George, Joseph Higgerson, David George and Keith George.
