Mr. Carter was born June 2, 1942, a son of the late Walter Scott, Sr. and Adele M. (Thurston) Carter.
He retired as a master machinist and enjoyed playing and listening to music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; one grandchild; and one great- grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Anne (Moore) Carter; two sons, Ronald Lee Carter, Jr. and wife, Lisa Faye, and Charles Scott Carter and wife, Jeannie B.; a sister, Marie Elizabeth Carter; five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Brian Law officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, great-grandsons and family members attending the service.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to a local hospice organization of your choice.
