William Franklin Bailes, 87, of 73 York Ave., passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his residence.
He was born January 14, 1930 in Albemarle County, a son of the late James Franklin and Ruth Rea Bailes.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, retired from Con Agra of Crozet and was a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Greenwood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bailes; a sister, Shirley Pace; and brother-in-law, Charles Patton.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Bailes; sons, William Franklin Bailes, ll and wife, Ellen of Greenwood, Robert Jeffrey Dedrick of Stuarts Draft and R. Gregory Dedrick and wife, Shawn of Stuarts Draft; daughters, Michelle Dedrick and wife, Rachel Riedel and Christy Lynn Bailes-Perry, all of Stuarts Draft; brother, James C. Bailes and wife, Patty of Waynesboro; sisters, Betty Ann Trainum and husband, Cecil of Stuarts Draft and Jean Patton of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Jessica Accetta, Elizabeth Davis, Lauren Nicole Dedrick, Lindsey Michelle Dedrick, Christopher Blake Perry, Kayden Parker Riedel and Kylie Jane Bailes; and five great grandchildren. He also leaves behind special friends, Jimmy and Delores Baber.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Crozet Baptist Church, 5804 St. George Ave., Crozet, VA with Pastor David Collyer officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
