

Charles L. Melanson, of Sudbury, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at MetroWest Medical Center/Framingham Union Hospital following a period of declining health. He was 80 years of age and the husband of Diane (Devarenne) Melanson. Born in Brockton August 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Jean B. and Helen (Daucette) Melanson. A resident of Sudbury for over 50 years, he operated his own taxi business for more than 30 years in Waltham until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Melanson had a wonderful attitude about life and was always smiling, laughing and joking ; he was well liked and very friendly. He was handy and a “jack of all trades”; a talented carpenter who had constructed an addition to his own home in Sudbury. In addition to his wife, Diane, he leaves his three children and their spouses; Chuck and Dawn Melanson of Marlboro, Sharon and Tom Russo of Wayland and Tricia and Bill Bishop of Hudson. He was the brother of Ben Melanson of New Hampshire and the late Sybil Martin and is also survived by his brother in law, Pudgy Martin of Weston, 7 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held from the Duckett-J.S.Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Rt. 20, Sudbury, Friday, February 15, at 8:00 am followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury at 9:00 o’clock. Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will be in Wadsworth Cemetery, Sudbury.
