

Elizabeth Hall deLucia, of Marlborough and formerly of Thornwood, NY and New Haven, CT died on June 6, 2012 at New Horizons in Marlborough, MA at the age of 95. She was born on September 26, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Hall of New Haven, CT. She was the wife of the late Raymond deLucia for 54 years.
Mrs. deLucia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Betsey and Harold Cutler of Sudbury, MA, her son and daughter-in-law Raymond and Annamaria deLucia of Bexhill-on-Sea, United Kingdom and her former daughter-in-law Nanette deLucia of Madison, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Beth Cullington of Framingham, MA, Katherine Caputo of Ashland MA, Robert deLucia of Anchorage, AK, Amy deLucia-Ferri of Brooklyn, NY and step grandchildren Victoria Elfick , Alexander Kimber and Christian Kimber, all of the UK. She also had ten cherished great-grandchildren.
Mrs. deLucia was a 1938 graduate of Southern Connecticut State University and taught elementary school in Connecticut and New York for 29 years.
With her husband, Mrs. deLucia enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 US states and all seven continents. At age 88, she toured her favorite parts of the west including the Grand Teton mountains with her extended family. In recent years, she frequently traveled on the Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2 to visit her son in England.
Her hobbies included needle-point, crossword puzzles and piano playing. Since moving to Marlborough in 2004, she played piano frequently at Memorial Congregational Church in Sudbury where she was a member and at activities at New Horizons. Her Tuesday afternoon “sing-alongs” at New Horizons, the last of which was just a week before her death, will be missed by many residents. She was affectionately known by all she met as “the Elegant One”.
A memorial service for Elizabeth deLucia will be held at Memorial Congregational Church at 26 Concord Road, Sudbury, on June 30 at 11:30 AM followed by a reception. Internment of her ashes will take place at a later date in Thornwood, NY. Donations in her memory may be made to two of her favorite charities, The Nature Conservancy, 4245 N.
