G. Alvin Crowell Jr.

He was a Mayflower Descendant, born to George Alvin Crowell Sr. and Marjorie Groce Greenwood. Alvin graduated from Milton Academy, class of ’51, and Yale University, class of ’55. He did post Graduate work at Wharton School of Business.

Alvin dedicated four years as a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. Later, he was the VP at F.S Moseley, then with Moors and Cabot and First Albany Corp. He later was the President of Crowell Cranberry Corp (an Ocean Spray member), and he was a Manager and Board Director of Tidmarsh Farms Inc.

He was a train traveler through Europe, Canada and the U.S. Alvin enjoyed reading and was a jazz enthusiast. He was loyal, caring and always ready to help a friend.

Alvin is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Penny A. Crowell of Sudbury, MA, his 5 cherished children, Cynthia Crowell Fougere (Michael) of Sagamore Beach, MA; Stephen R. Crowell (Emilee) of Natick, MA; Leslie Crowell Ludlam (Jerry) of Framingham, MA; Stuart E. Crowell (Marguerite) of Plymouth, NH and Sarah Crowell Willis (John) of Sagamore Beach, MA. Alvin is also survived by his 13 treasured grandchildren, Joshua J. Fougere (Sarah) of Washington, DC; Adam M. Fougere (Jennifer) of Buzzards Bay, MA; Kimberly Fougere Lamoureux (Eric) of Milton, FL; Rachael Hennessey-Crowell (Timothy) of Roslindale, MA; P. Benjamin Crowell of Los Angeles, CA; Theresa Crowell of New York, NY; Ian Ludlam of Acton, MA; Lindsey Ludlam of New York, NY; Hannah Crowell of Arlington, MA; Hailey Crowell Drole (Luka) of Koper, Slovenia; Meghan Willis of Shelburne, VT; Kaitlyn Willis of Sagamore Beach, MA and Amanda Willis of Washington, DC, as well as his 11 precious great-grandchildren. Alvin also leaves behind his dear brother William Crowell of Elyria, OH.

Alvin is predeceased by his parents, his step-father Richard Greenwood of Plymouth, MA and his younger brother Ripley Crowell of Mashpee, MA.

A Memorial Service will be at First Parish of Sudbury, 327 Concord Road at 1:30PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
