
Jill Mercer of Newton Highlands. Died March 5, 2011 at home after living for two and a half years with pancreatic cancer. She was born and raised in San Francisco and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (BA ’66) and Middlebury College (MA ’79). She taught French for over forty years, first at the Browning School in New York City, followed by several years at Brimmer and May School, in Chestnut Hill, MA and finally at The Winsor School in Boston for twenty-nine years. Her death came precisely one week after her beloved daughter, Rebecca Pauline, was married to Bastien Leduc, formerly of Castelnau de Montmiral, France, now of Drytown, CA, where the couple resides. In addition to her daughter, she leaves her loving husband of thirty-two years, George T. Mercer. She was the daughter of the late Chauncey McKeever of San Francisco, CA. She is survived by her mother, Doris McKeever, also of San Francisco; by her sister, Chauncie Rodzianko, and her husband, Paul, of Tuxedo Park, NY and their children, Marina and Alexander; and by her step-sister, Ann Hatch, and her husband, Paul, of San Francisco, CA and her son, Timothy Hatch. There will be a memorial service at The Winsor School (Pilgrim Road, Boston) on Saturday March 19 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, Waban, MA.
