

Katherine “Kate” Stanton Barker, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, January 30, 2022. She is survived by her daughters, Katherine Barker Marshall of Bethesda, Maryland, and Kristine Barker of Waltham, Massachusetts, and her granddaughter, Katherine Marshall. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert J. Barker II, her parents, Gerard J. Stanton, Sr. and Katherine Magullion Stanton, and her brother, Robert “Buzzy” Stanton, of Cohasset, MA.
She is also survived by her brother, Gerard J. Stanton, Jr. of Seattle and Denver, and her sister, Mary E. Hynes of Cohasset and several nieces and nephews.
A longtime resident of Framingham, Kate was born in Boston on August 29, 1946, and attended Cohasset High School and Mitchell College. When living in Boston, she worked in administration at Massachusetts General Hospital, and, later, after moving to Framingham, at her husband’s law practice. After her husband’s passing, she was a Contract Manager for the Navy at the Raytheon plant in Sudbury until her retirement.
She was a member of Saint Jeremiah’s Parish in Framingham, then Saint Anselm’s in Sudbury, where she was also a member of the Red Hats, and made prayer shawls for those in need. A kind and generous woman, she was passionate about volunteerism and charity, routinely participating in Belle of the Ball, supporting Children’s Hospital, which saved her life as an infant, the Jimmy Fund, and turned her 70th Birthday Party into a supply drive for Cradles to Crayons.
Her family would like to thank the countless numbers of nurses, aides, doctors, and healthcare professionals whose compassionate care gave her the best quality of life possible in the last five years of her life.
Calling Hours will be Friday, February 4, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, 656 Boston Post Rd, Sudbury, MA 01776. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 5, at 11:00am at Saint Anselm Church,100 Landham Rd, Sudbury, MA 01776.
In lieu of flowers, and in continuation of her generous spirit, she asked that you consider donating to the Jimmy Fund, Boston Children’s Hospital, or Cradles to Crayons in her memory.
