26 years ago when Bob and Mike met at travel today. Bob quickly became a member of our large, no very large family. Did I say very large!!!
Bob immediately had a very unique presence that captured every ones attention. Probably, it was his smile. Most likely it was his magnetism because he had no problem engaging everyone in conversations. His personal asset?? He genuinely appreciated people from the very first encounter.
As for his joviality, it was always evident, especially at the Year-end parties that he and Mike gave on a regular basis. Always at the front door, smiling, he invited his friends and relatives in with handshakes and big hugs.
Never happier than in his white tuxedo with a festive red cumber-bon and bow tie ensemble for their annual Christmas extravaganza. Bob surely knew how to have a good time, and with scotch in hand his celebratory nature was contagious to all of those around him.
Bob, or Roberto Ferrarini as he sometimes would refer to himself was a proud Italian American who possessed a true love for the Italian language, culture and of course food. Gnocchi, angolotti, rigatoni or Linguini, whichever Mike made, Bob happily asked for seconds. Bob was always working on perfecting his Italian accent and learning new words. To him Mike was Michelangelo. His favorite gesture, that Italian hand 🏻
But at the end of the day Bob’s mission in life was caring for people.
After his service in the Navy as a medic, Bob worked as a nurse at Marlboro Hospital; he then was hired by the Leonard Morse Hospital; he ended his career at Brigham and Woman's Hospital. But his number one patient was always Mike.
Bob and Mike had a strong relationship that was built around trust; respect, loyalty, humor and more importantly love. They shared a passion for exploring new countries,
Nurturing those beautiful flowers in the garden and preparing wonderful meals for friends and family. Except on Mondays for Burger night at the prime bar restaurant.
There love for one another was exemplary and Bob’s memory will live forever.
So here we are today to say our last farewell to Robert Ferrarini, our beloved Bob. Thank you for your dedicated service to our country, thank you for your professionalism in nursing. But most of all, thank you for caring. WE WILL MISS YOU.
