

Robert “Bob” Alfred Swanson of Bellingham died suddenly Tuesday morning, October 29, he was 59 and the beloved husband of Laura Burns-Swanson, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage. Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Alfred and Alma (Nielsen) Swanson; and his late step-mothers Evelyn (Aiken) Swanson and Ruth Swanson.
Mr. Swanson grew up in Sudbury, attended Lincoln-Sudbury High School and earned his diploma from Warwick High School in 1977. He was also a graduate of the United States Army Transportation School, and earned his Associates Degree from Wentworth Technical Institute.
Mr. Swanson proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1976-1979, and was a Terminal Operations Coordinator. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment mechanic, and most recently served in that capacity with Franny’s Landscaping in Framingham.
Bob was the devoted father of Jens Swanson of Mendon, Greta Swanson and her partner Kristopher Keegan of Whitinsville, and Nils and Erik Swanson both of Bellingham; the brother of the late Barbara (Swanson) and her husband George Richmond of Harvard, Gail Chouinard and her husband Dan of Ellensburg, WA, and Nancy Stewart and her husband Wayne of Bellingham; the step-brother of the late Gail Plank and her husband Richard Plank, Alayne (Aiken) Glass, and Donald Aiken and his wife Martha.
Bob is survived by many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. He was the nephew of the late Jens Nielsen, and also leaves many cousins and loving in-laws to cherish his memory.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday November 3, from 12-4 PM at the Duckett-J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road (Rt. 20) SUDBURY.
