

.Rudolph "Rudy" Valentino Marrone, 89, of Sudbury, died Saturday, October 31, 2015 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham following a period of declining health. Rudy, as he was affectionately known, was a retired baker and former owner of Marrone’s Bakery, for many years a family operated fixture and gathering place in Sudbury. He was also employed as a baker for years at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury.
Born September 18, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Egidio and Caterina (Lodato) Marrone. Following High School he joined the United States Navy to serve in World War Two. He enjoyed following professional sports, especially harness racing.
He is survived by his friend and loving companion, Dorothy Magliozzi of Marlboro; his children; Mark Marrone of Bellingham; Dale Gerard of Framingham, Patrice Bates and her husband Danny of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Alan Marrone and his wife Linda of Marlboro, as well as his former wife and the mother of his children, Mary (Giallongo) Marrone of Framingham. He was the grandfather of Dana, Kristin, Michelle and Adriana and the father of the late Glen and Dana Marrone.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Tues., Nov. 10, at 10:00 AM at Our lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Rod, Sudbury, followed by burial with Naval Honors at Mount Wadsworth Cemetery, Sudbury
