

Stephen D. Santomenna of Sudbury, died suddenly Saturday, July 21, 2012. He was 49 years old and is the beloved husband of Beth (Melvin) Santomenna and father of Erin and James Santomenna. Born in Long Island, New York, Stephen is the son of Raymond and Helga (Ketzel) Santomenna of Golden's Bridge, New York.
Steve graduated from John Jay High School and received a B.A. in Fine Arts from Ithaca College. He was the resident sound designer for the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge and the Trinity Repertory Company in Rhode Island. He accumulated numerous professional design credits in internationally recognized regional theatres, on Broadway, as well as in theaters throughout Europe and Asia. Stephen directed operations at Image Engineering and was a producer for Preston Productions. Most recently he served as Creative Director for the Billerica-based event staging company massAV.
To know Steve was to love him and admire his ingenuity, compassion, and sense of humor. A devoted father, he was proud of his daughter's creativity and construction abilities, two of his own talents. He also contributed to the leadership of Sudbury Boy Scout Troop 61, a role he loved, especially in scout camp with his son, who shared his interest in the water and other scouting and technical skills. Stephen and his family enjoyed vacationing in Maine and visiting with family in Connecticut, New York, Maryland, and South and North Carolina.
In addition to his immediate family and parents, Stephen leaves his sister and her husband, Linda Santomenna and Robert Alphin of Maryland, and his aunt Marion Santomenna of New York. He also leaves his wife’s parents, Serena Melvin of Connecticut and T. Stephen and Beverly Melvin of South Carolina, and his brother-in-law Robert and Elizabeth Melvin of Connecticut. Stephen is also survived by his nephews David, Zachary, and Jacob, and his cousins and other family members.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, One Morse Road, Sudbury. The Reverend Barbara Williamson, Rector will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., Rt. 20, Sudbury.
