Barbara L. Heddy Broome

The daughter of the late Frank and Mary Heddy, Barbara was born January 18, 1934 in Sloatsburg, NY. She attended Sloatsburg Schools and Suffern High School. She later graduated from secretarial school. The widow of Donald Broome, they married May 12, 1956. They resided in Sloatsburg, NY before retiring to Winterton then Goshen, NY. Barbara was a volunteer at Arden Hill Hospital and a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Tuxedo Park and later of St. James Episcopal Church in Goshen. She loved to garden, decorate and shop. She was also an avid NJ Devils hockey fan and a lifelong animal lover.

Survivors include her children, Susan Broome of Highland Mills, Mark Broome and his wife Tara of Sound Beach, NY, her beloved grandchildren Patrick Rost (Lynsey), Caitie Rost, Laura and Kailey Broome, and her great grandson Nathaniel Rost. "Grandma B" was also the surrogate grandmother to Elizabeth, Casey and Kelly Klewicki. The family thanks the staff at Valley View for her care in her last years.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 5-8 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901. Funeral Service will be celebrated 10AM, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Mary’s Church, Tuxedo Park, NY with burial to follow at Sloatsburg Cemetery.
