It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved brother, Charles Ragusa, on April 25,2025. Born on June 12, 1954, Charlie was not only my twin brother but my best friend and confidant. We shared a bond that words can hardly describe, filled with early morning talks, laughter, and support. I valued his advice and I know his spirit will live in my heart forever.
Charlie grew up in Brooklyn, earning his B.A. in Political Science and History at Brooklyn College and a Masters of Public Administration from N.Y.U. He became a History Teacher and Dean at Boys and Girls High and was there for over 30 years. He also was involved in Politics from an early age. In 1982 he was elected State Committeeman (District Leader) in the 47th A.D of Bensonhurst. He worked closely with Assemblyman Bill Colton for over 40 years. He was a very caring and dedicated leader who was always there to help his community.
He is survived by his mother Josephine Ragusa (father Salvatore Ragusa predeceased), brother Nick Ragusa & wife Gail, and his nephews Sal and Matthew. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation for Charles will be held Monday, April 28, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901. A graveside service will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Ave, Staten Island, NY 10309.
