Dorothy was born in the Bronx, NY on November 14, 1951 to the late Michael and Mary (Zungale) Maietta.
Dorothy was a fiercely devoted wife and mother. She was both a protector and a provider, willing to make any sacrifice to ensure the comfort and happiness of her husband Aldo, and her two children, Michael and Jennifer. This mothering instinct also extended to her friends, for whom she would do anything. Many people say they would give you the shirt off of their back, but Dorothy actually would. Her family was a source of immense pride for her. She truly enjoyed being a mother and felt that her greatest life achievement was protecting and caring for her husband and children. Anyone who knew her knew that this devotion was also expressed in her love for her dog, Princess. She was a mother to all, both human and canine.
Dorothy was a woman of great strength. She always put her needs to the side to ensure that her family and friends were taken care of first. Completely selfless and endlessly generous, Dorothy gave without any expectation of reciprocity. She gave because she wanted to and because of her immense capacity for love.
Dorothy’s nurturing instinct was also evident in her love of cooking. Providing food for those she loved was just one of the many ways that she cared for family and friends. She also loved to crochet, often making handmade items to keep her family wrapped in warmth. Above all, Dorothy was known for her sense of humor. She was the jokester of any group and always ready to have a good laugh, or more likely, ready to make you laugh. Her humor, generosity, warmth and strength will be greatly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her devoted husband, Aldo Rubeis, her two loving children Michael and Jennifer Rubies, and her loyal dog Princess.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 7 to 8pm at the WANAMAKER & CARLOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 177 RT. 59, Suffern, NY 10901.
