Elizabeth (Betty) Marie Vogel (nee Haid) passed away on April 28th, 2021. Betty was born on October 31st, 1925 to Henry and Alva Haid in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in Richmond Hill Queens and married Norman E. Vogel on August 7th, 1948. They had a wonderful life together for 70 years until his passing in 2018. They were true New Yorkers, living in Brooklyn, Richmond Hill Queens, Huntington Long Island, Spring Valley/Chestnut Ridge, and Suffern with a family of three children. Betty worked for AT&T/NY Tel/Verizon for 22 years as a telephone operator. She was active in Telephone Pioneers of America for many years in volunteer work for multiple causes. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Patricia (and John) Anderson, her son Robert (and Gail) Vogel, and her daughter Elizabeth (and Robert) DeMartino; along with grandchildren Kristin (and Brian) Thompson, Matthew (and Nicole) Vogel, Eric (and Elise) Vogel, Peter DeMartino, Jeffrey Anderson, and Hannah DeMartino; and great-grandchildren Holden, Ellis, Easton, Carson, and August. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Eleanor Mathson and Mary Lou Haid, along with a multitude of nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Norman, her sister Florence Mullings, and her brother Henry Haid. There will be a Funeral Mass at St Margaret’s Church in Pearl River, NY at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 6, 2021. She will be interred at Calverton National Cemetery with her husband, Norman following the Mass at 2pm. When I think of Aunt Betty, I remember the wonderful family times we shared as an extended family. She was a caring, kind and wonderful woman who brought smiles to all around her. Rest peacefully. You made this world better through your days on Earth. ❤️
