November 29, 1943 – June 29, 2025
Emma Kempf, a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and spirited adventurer, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, in New York at the age of 81.
Born on November 29, 1943, in Slovenia to Josef and Antonia Kobetitsch, Emma was the third of four children. She grew up surrounded by the strong familial bonds that would remain a cornerstone of her life. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings: Herman Kobetitsch, Josef Kobetitsch, and Marie Brooks.
Emma's zest for life knew no bounds. A prolific world traveler, she journeyed across Asia, Russia, Turkey, and stood in awe before the Great Pyramids of Egypt. Though she wandered far and wide, her heart was always most at home in Europe, a continent she explored with joy and curiosity.
In her later years, Emma continued to embrace community and friendship. She was an active member of The Suffern Seniors and the Suffern Women’s Club, served as president of the Cornwall Area Singles Activities group, and was a longtime, proud member of the Red Hat Society—always wearing her signature smile and flair for life.
Above all, Emma’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved son Russell Kempf and his wife Kori, and cherished her role as grandmother to Justin (25), William (22), and Jane (20), all of whom carry her spirit of adventure and strength.
Emma lived a full and vibrant life, marked by curiosity, compassion, and courage. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, stories, and an enduring love for life that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed.
A memorial visitation will be held from 12pm to 3pm, at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
