

Frank Dailey, retired NYC Detective, Police Chief, Deputy Sheriff, and devoted family man has passed on after 84 years of life. This venerable law enforcement officer, beloved by family and many friends, passed peacefully on January 13, 2026. Born on September 20, 1941, Frank lived a life defined by an unwavering commitment to duty and a fierce devotion to those he loved.
A dedicated public servant for decades, Frank’s career in law enforcement began with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and he rapidly rose to the rank of Detective First Grade. Frank continued his service as Police Chief of Sloatsburg, NY, after which, he became a Deputy Sheriff in the Sheriff's Department of Rockland County. Throughout these decades of service, Frank was respected for his deep sense of duty and a passion for protecting the community he loved.
Beyond the badge, Frank was the heart of his family. He was the beloved husband of Agnes Valentine Dailey, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. Known for his quick wit and infectious personality, Frank was a natural storyteller and orator who could command the attention of any room with a perfectly timed anecdote. He embodied a life "lived hard and loved fiercely," cherishing every moment spent with his friends and relatives.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Agnes; his children - Michael Dailey, Karen Gitelman, Timothy Dailey, Jennifer Hamilton, Kevin Dailey, Kristen Ahlers; Step children - Robert and Gregory Valentine; Twenty grandchildren; Six great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Crapanzano, her husband, Victor.
Frank was a member of the Rockland County Shields, Hudson Valley NY 10-13 Organization, Ramapo Valley Rotary, Lions Club, and Hoffman Masonic Lodge #412.
A funeral service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY on January, 23, 2026 at 1-3pm and 5-9pm. Funeral mass will be at St Joan of Arc Church, 32 Eagle Valley Rd, Sloatsburg, NY on January 24th at 11am.
Frank will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service and laughter will live on in all those blessed or lucky enough to know him. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring and will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
