

Dick was born to Frank and Annabel Parker on July 28, 1927 in Tuxedo, NY. Dick served honorably with the US Navy retiring from the Naval Reserves in 2004 as a Chief Petty Officer. He fought during WWII in the South Pacific aboard the USS Shangri La. He was a Fire Chief for the Sloatsburg Fire Department, a member of the Sloatsburg American Legion and the Sloatsburg Senior Citizen Group. He enjoyed salmon fishing on Lake Ontario. Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Rose (Abate), loving children Richard Parker, Sr. (wife Maureen Gallagher-Parker), Janice Lovell and Kathy Parker-Prior (husband Thomas Prior), devoted grandchildren Heather Larini, Richard Parker, Jr., Christine Bates (husband John), Amanda Lovell, Thomas “TJ” Lovell and Kimberly Prior and cherished great grandchildren Lexi Larini, Gabriella Larini, Amber Bates, Joseph Bates and 3 on the way. Dick is predeceased by his brothers Phillip and Morris Parker as well as his son-in-law Joseph Lovell.
Visitation Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 in Suffern. Funeral Mass Monday, July 28th, 11am at St. Joan of Arc Church in Sloatsburg followed by an Interment at FW Loescher Veteran’s Cemetery in New Hempstead.
