

Born June 11, 1921 - 102 wonderful years of life
Passed away peacefully in the night in his home in Suffern, NY.
Born in Tuxedo, NY to August and Linnea Salo living his childhood years in Suffern, NY where he graduated from Suffern High School.
Afterward he entered the service returning a WW11 Veteran he then married his childhood sweetheart Jane Iorio who had lived across the street from him since birth. They were inseparable for 68 Years. Jane and Fred traveled many places together during their marriage. Fred was a deeply beloved father, uncle, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his two children John Salo, wife Dawn Owen deceased of Cumming, Georgia, and daughter Pam and husband Tim Gulla of Manalapan, Fl. His grandson John Ryan and Amy Salo, granddaughter Megan Salo and granddaughters Jenna and Gannon Vanscoy, Jacqueline and Cole Watkins, his great grandchildren Ryan Salo, Ansley Salo and Gannon Vanscoy
A building contractor for most of his earlier life; he had built many homes in Rockland and Bergen counties. He was involved in real estate and had invested in farms and apartment buildings. He was also involved in the stock market. He later worked as maintenance Supervisor at Rockland Community College until retirement.
Fred, a tough, yet sensitive man, always with a smile on his youthful face truly had a love of life.
His favorite pastime was being with family and friends at his lake house on Greenwood Lake, NJ and spent his winters in Lantana, Florida. He had a love of boating, shopping and collecting things, taking drives to upstate New York or to Florida. He loved cars. He enjoyed finance and the stock market and would call his son John for the close of the market daily. He enjoyed reading the Wall Street Journal, eating ice cream, cake or any sweets every evening. He was a master at arguing his point, (regardless of how mad or what happened between you, it was forgotten and you were always important and loved by him)
He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a wonderful caretaker Krystyna Wiecek who has been his loving companion since the passing of his wife Jane.
Never to be forgotten.
