Joseph "Joe" E. Carroll

Joseph (Joe) Carroll of Palisades, NY, previously of Suffern, NY died on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He was 79 years old. He was born on August 29, 1933 to the late John and Teresa Carroll in New York, NY. He grew up in the St. Agnes Home for Boys in Sparkill, New York with his older brothers Eugene and John. He graduated from Tappan Zee High School and received a B.A. from SUNY Oswego and a M.A. in Education from Seton Hall University. He proudly served in the United States Army in Germany from 1953-1955. Joe taught Industrial Arts and subsequently became a Guidance Counselor at Spring Valley and Ramapo High Schools.

On June 24, 1964 he married his wife Marilyn, the love of his life. Survivors include his beloved daughter Dr. Sheila Carroll and her husband Dr. Ian Glaaser, and his treasured grandson Matthew Glaaser of New York, NY. Nieces and nephews Eileen (James) McGiff, Robert (Robin) Carroll, Kevin (Jerilyn) Carroll, Lisa Carroll, Gregory (Charise) Scharfeld and sister-in-law Serena Carroll, brother-in law Irwin (Joe-Ann) Scharfeld.

Friends are invited to call at The Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901 on Tuesday, May 21st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church in Piermont on Wednesday, May 22nd at 10:30 am with the interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont.
