It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Laguerre Ciceron, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on January 2, 2025, in New York, NY, at the age of 67.
Born on February 7, 1957, to the late Pierre and Francine Ciceron in Fonds Parisien, Haiti, Laguerre spent his early years surrounded by close family and friends. From an early age, he exhibited a natural love for connection and helping others. In 1981, he emigrated to Spring Valley, NY, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.
Deeply grounded in his faith, Laguerre dedicated himself to serving others. He was a devoted Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and member of the Board of Directors at the French Speaking Baptist Church. His commitment to the church also extended to his role as the former president of the Chorale D’hommes, where his love for music and fellowship became a hallmark of his life.
Beyond his church involvement, Laguerre’s generosity knew no bounds. He gave his time, love, and support to his family, friends, and community, always leading with compassion and a desire to uplift those around him.
In addition to his service to others, Laguerre was a hardworking man who took pride in his work. He held various roles over the years, including with the East Ramapo Central School District, Chestnut Ridge Transportation, and the Village of Spring Valley. In every role, he brought a strong work ethic, humility, and a warm spirit that left a lasting impression on those around him.
These qualities were even more evident in his personal life. Laguerre was a man who cherished time with family and friends. He loved playing cards, enjoying good food, and spending time with his grandchildren, Logan, Gia, and Sydney. He took great joy in long walks around the neighborhood, always with a smile and a kind word for those he met.
Laguerre leaves behind his beloved wife of 43 years, Jesita Ciceron, and four children: Marie L. Ciceron, Eldine Ciceron Alexander, Alyssa Ciceron, and Casey Ciceron Girvin. He was a proud father-in-law to James Girvin and Renaldo Alexander. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren: Logan Carlton Alexander, Gia Marie Girvin, and Sydney Reese Girvin.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Tionol Ciceron, Marie Claire Ciceron, Wilbert Ciceron, and Italex Ciceron. He is survived by his siblings: Marie Odette Galette, Jean Morette Ciceron, Marie Cheliene (Michlene) Ciceron, Marie Evanette Durame, Jean Molair Ciceron, Omarante Ciceron, and many other relatives and friends.
